Hindu Statue

Hindu Statue

Look at what I found! I beat an old man for this Hindu Statue on a sidewalk full of free stuff from a neighbor. I found other goodies that I took home with me :) but they’re not as cool as that sculpture.

I know the sculpture is considered Kitsch, but my Art History heart still warms up when it sees new things; besides it reminds me of the Hindu folklore I grew up with. Later on this week I will clean it and repaint it (albeit I probably won’t because I’m habitually lazy). The old man, whom I saw later while walking my dog, told me I should sell it. I’m not so sure I would want to do that since already I have plans on where it will be placed when I purchase my first house ever!

Anyhow, my mom saw the statue and was in awe of it too. She told me the story about Hanaman (the monkey king) and other stories that circle around this particular sculpture. I cannot help but remember my undergraduate days as an Art History student listening attentively to the reason why sculptures and paintings exist, it is the art of storytelling I believe people take for granted. I know there’s more to this sculpture that I will eventually find more information about.

Reminder

Reminder

Two days ago, Joel and I had a huge fight. This would have to be one of the biggest fights we’ve ever had and definitely a real first this year. Anyhow, while I was in the car, I happened to stumble across the Jacket he wore the wedding this past Saturday that he was here, in it were our photobooth pictures. It brought a rush of feelings and for a split second I really ached for his touch. And despite how angry I am, little things like these will lift up my spirits and remind me why I fell in love with him in the first place.

Okay, so the reason why I am starting this new blog is to really organize my days with pictures to share. I take pictures literally everyday and I don’t really share them with people, but I thought what the heck… I can be a better photographer, a better writer, and quite possibly be more organized (God knows I need it). Basically, this is a step into a new direction. Since I have been good with waking up at 6 and working out at 6:30 almost everyday…I’d have to say I’m very proud of myself. I am wanting to maximize my time!

Basically, my life is going to get busier and I would need this to chronicle my day when a phone call might be out of reach.

The Orchid named Pure and the letter

I received a special Orchid today from my husband, Joel. I’ll take more pictures of it tomorrow…
